Practice Drill: FIFA World Cup Soccer
World cup soccer is an incredibly fun and excellent game to practice your soccer skills. Get into the world cup spirit and have fun with your soccer goal. Many players will remember this game from practices with their recreational league or club team. The games can get intense and the championship competition is always fun. The games are quick so no one sits out too long but the wait is always a big incentive to play your hardest and bring your country glory.
The game can also be adapted to teams of 3 and as many teams as you want can play. The more teams playing, the more intense the competition and the harder it is to score. If you have 2 goals, several world cup tournaments can go on at the same time, or even have brackets for a final championship to a score of 3. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
You need:
-El Diablo Soccer goal/ practice soccer goal or a full sized goal
-An even number of players (odd if you are using a full sized goal)
-An area roughly the size of a penalty box
Set Up:
-Divide all the players into teams of two. Each team picks a country that their team represents (i.e. USA, Brazil, England, Portugal, etc.)
-If using a full size soccer goal have a full time goalie, if using an El Diablo soccer goal; no goalie is needed.
Instructions:
A player or the goalie serves the ball into the pitch. The teams of two try to score a goal. When a team scores they are out and move to the sideline waiting to see who they will face in the next round. The last team without a goal is out and the game begins again with two less players. The game continues until there are only two teams left. The first team that scores two goals wins.
For Example:
Round 1: 2 vs. 6 first team scores. 2 vs. 4 then 2 vs. 2.
Round 2: 2 vs. 4, 2 vs. 2
Round 3: 2 vs. 2, first team to score twice wins.
